ARTIST'S CORNER: GENERAL INFORMATION

Special Announcement: Boardwalk Art Show Artist Letitia Lee has been invited to show her work in the Arts Center Gallery for the August Exhibit. Letitia has been attending the BAS for several years, and her booth has been in the 10th-11th Street area. Please join her and others for her opening Friday evening Aug. 1st at 6PM in the Ocean City Arts Center Gallery. We hope to begin a tradition of having a long-time BAS artist in the August show annually!

THIS YEAR'S AWARDS CEREMONY HAS BEEN CHANGED: It will be at the ARTS CENTER on FRIDAY EVE. @ 7:30PM during Letitia Lee's Gallery Opening/Reception.

ARTS CENTER'S TENT IS AT THE MUSIC PIER;

T-SHIRTS, PROGRAMS, BLANK SURVEYS AND GENERAL INFORMATION AVAILABLE THROUGH VOLUNTEERS WORKING ALL 3 DAYS.

AWARDS UPDATE: 5 Judges working Friday 8/1. JUDGING @ 11AM. Awards Announcements/Presentations will be with our Mayor Perillo and Board Members of the Arts Center, (CHANGE) FRIDAY EVENING (Aug. 1st) AT THE ARTS CENTER--7:30PM during Letitia Lee's Opening/Reception. All winners will be announced by public address throughout the weekend on the boardwalk.

LODGING QUESTIONS: Do not delay making reservations. Please refer to OceanCityChamber.Com website (now new and improved)

TIPS: Remember the strong winds! Bring weights, cartons full of sand, or other to weigh down your covering. Remember a wheeled wagon or dollie to transport your set-up & artwork. Time is very limited with your vehicle at the bulkhead of the boardwalk. Tents available for approx. $200 at wholesale stores. Thumbnail above is an example of artist's booth.

THIS IS A DIAGRAM OF A BOARDWALK SPACE FACING THE OCEAN, RAILINGS IN FORGROUND. SPACE NUMBERS RUN RIGHT TO LEFT (south to north beginning at 14th St.) IF YOUR SPACE IS #2, YOU BELONG BETWEEN NO'S 2 & 3 AS SEEN.

Please understand the realities of the Boardwalk: Benches, flower pots, smoking sections, etc. change year to year. Your space may have a bench..some artists like the benches for anchoring their belongings and utilizing them for display. Tents can fit behind the railings, enclosing the bench into the space. Volunteers will be available to demonstrate and assist within reason.

Please understand that while we receive a great deal of support and help from the City, they cannot alter their usual routine and regulations to accommodate the BAS. It is impossible, as many have requested, to allow anyone to drive onto the boardwalk--yes, we receive many requests to have that rule changed! It'll never happen--sorry. This can be the opportunity you needed to get your work out there, as well as achieve sales. However, we will never tell you that it comes without a strong physical effort.

We want to know your special needs. Our volunteers increase in number and in assistance every year, and we do not want you to hesitate to ask for help with regard to your Friday morning, and possibly Sunday afternoon. Please remember to thank them. They are volunteers, art enthusiasts, and friends who just want to help out.

The Boardwalk Art Show is 46 years old this year! Did you know that it is one of Ocean City's oldest organized events? It has been a source for healthy sales, a rich sharing of artwork and ideas, and opportunity to present the art of talented artists. The Ocean City Boardwalk and all it's attractions draw tens of thousands of individuals for three days of viewing the work of participating artists in the height of the tourist season. Over half of the artists are returning after many, many years of success at the BAS.
