PAINTING & DRAWING

LOSING YOUR FEAR OF WATERCOLOR

This class will give you skills to help you paint in watercolor, and lose your fears about the medium.  Come have some fun, and learn some new skills or improve the skills you already have.  Watercolor should be enjoyed, not feared.  Occasionally a supply fee will be charged to cover the cost of paints and other supplies.  This fee will be paid directly to the teacher at the beginning of the class.  2/6

Learn how to create clean, glowing watercolors using direct painting and mingling techniques. Explore the elements of design. Experiment with color theory. This six week course is an exploration in not simply painting a picture but creating magic with watercolors and taking your work to an entirely new level. The 3 hour session, allow more time for painting and completing work. (students are permitted 1 make up class only.)

Beginner to experienced artists will work with acrylics to create finished paintings. Emphasis will be on good drawing foundation, under painting and working up to finished pieces. Students will use photo reference of a variety of  subjects. Supply list available. 3/10

Beginners learn the principles of drawing by working with  basic shapes and the still life.  This basic course concentrates on developing awareness of line, form, shape, texture and perspective using various   techniques and materials. Please bring newsprint tablet (18x24) or (14x17), 6B drawing pencil and charcoal. 3/12

FOLK ART FUN

I can guide you in finishing unfinished work and help you start new projects in furniture painting or gift items you want to paint.  How about something special for yourself?  This class is for fun.  A how-to-lesson will be given the first Monday of each month.  A different technique will be presented each month.

This course is designed for people interested in clay work at all levels.  Tiles, address plates, coil pots and boxes are popular forms.  Unlike slipcast work, we use the potter’s wheel, slabs & coils to build from scratch!  Glazing and decorating pieces are also covered.  Satisfaction & fun guaranteed.  Please note that this class is limited to 12 students. This course is designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.  Basic instruction in preparing clay for throwing and learning how to center, open up and throw a cylinder that can be made into a cup, vase, bowl, etc. Experienced students will be taught how to make pitchers, casseroles with lids, wine goblets, etc. Trimming and glazing are also included.    Students need to be prepared with trimmed fingernails and a towel. Must be at least 18 years old. Class is limited to 8 people. Register Early! MAKE UP CLASSES WILL ONLY OCCUR IF OCAC OR TEACHER CANCELS CLASS 4/10

Back to the barre!  A wonderful ballet class geared for dancers with an intermediate knowledge of ballet technique and terminology within the discipline and ability to execute movements with ease. Dancers are challenged with increasing complexity in movement and skills. Dancers start with classic ballet barre, stretching, center work and across the floor work.  Suggested for “DANCEWAVE” company dancers.  Cobalt blue leotards, pink tights, pink ballet slippers.  Adults, wanting that work out, please wear all black!  Hair must be pulled back in a tight bun. 4/10

Miss Andrea’s Jazz Class helps showcase a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way.  This class is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, quick turns, big kicks, illusions and big leaps. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance.  Miss Andrea knows, she was a professional Jazz Dancer for 20 years.  Cobalt blue leotards or tank tops, black jazz pants and black jazz shoes required.  Women please have hair pulled back away from face.4/10

Ocean City is starting it’s own Contemporary Dance Company!
Miss Andrea’s choreography is a mix of Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Lyrical Technique.  Students will start with short Jazz, Modern or Ballet warm-up.  Work on perfecting moves in choreography, then go on to the creation of the performance piece.  As “Dancewave” builds, students will perform concert style dance pieces for the Ocean City Community. Dark Blue leotard/shirt for boys, tan tights, black jazz pants for boys, tan shoes for girls, black jazz shoes for boys.  Hair in a tight bun!  4/10

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese art studied to promote relaxation and to encourage meditation.  The slow, flowing exercise of the Tai Chi “form” is taught along with several breathing exercises.  Tai Chi is often called “meditation in motion” as it encompasses both physical and mental exercise. ALL ARE WELCOME.

This four-week session for digital camera beginners will go over the basics to get the most out of your digital camera.  Figure out what the little dials, buttons and menu items mean.  Learn how to set your camera for different scenarios and how aperture, shutter speed and ISO work together.  All classes include Q&A sessions.  Bring camera and instruction manuals.
