“Sioux City Sue”
A Musical Romp through the Old West

A little performance workshop for kids from 8 to 14 that teaches script writing, acting, stage movement, singing skills, and making magic with a song. The old cowboy (& girl) west is celebrated through the songs from the western movies of the 40’s, and along the way students learn a whole lot about the American West!
...with a grand finale on Saturday morning July 31st at a “Cowboy Festival” with a western breakfast, square dance lessons, “How to Rope a Cow”, tall tales from a storyteller, and the 45 minute performance of “Sioux City Sue”.
Drama and script writing taught by John Peckich, ACC faculty, playwright, producer/director.
Music and staging taught by professional singer/director Nancy Fox of Vocal Arts, founder of the Youth Opera of South Jersey.

Paris, London, Rome, New York! Let’s look at art from all over the world! Create your own masterpieces using watercolor, clay, acrylic paint, pastels, and ink! Are you the next Picasso? Look and learn about work by the following artists: Monet, Degas, VanGogh, Pollock, and Warhol. We’ll also look at sculpture in Rome and create our own Roman Sculpture.apers we work on.  You will have fun with this medium.  It is fast, the colors are fun and the results are always successful.

Try Something new, easy, and heirloom!
Time to use your extra yarn, fabric, ribbon, and clothing to create a wonderful wall-hanging you will cherish for years. This class will give you the basics of weaving and the opportunity to continue the craft on your own. It’s easy and fun—a class for all!
Basic materials will be supplied (loom/needles)
Personal yarn and embellishments can be brought in after the first week of class.

DRAWING, PAINTING & CARTOONING

Students start with the basics of lines, shapes, sketching, inking and coloring by drawing various subjects such as people, settings, animals and eventually create their own characters. Students will then create full color paintings and cartoons. 6/28

FUN WITH SCULPTURE

Students will have fun working with their hands to create 3-dimensional sculpture, using clay, plaster and Paper Mache.This is a fun class and a solid introduction to art. 6/28

FISHY FABRIC WINDSOCK

$25 + $5 Materials Fee

By adding a tail and fins to colorful fish-shaped cloth, each student will create a unique fish windsock. After decorating with trimmings and paint, string and a swivel hook will be attached to the open mouth so it will twirl in the wind. Completed fish will be about 4-1/2 feet long. 8/11

FUN WEDNESDAY WORKSHOPS!
ROUND REED BASKETRY

$25 + $5 Supply Fee

Starting with circular bases, students will develop their ability to control, form & design while twining or weaving with different colors of round reed. Students will be able to complete a small basket and no two will look alike. This class is for beginners to advanced basket makers.

PAINTING WITH MUD BOGOIANFINI

In Mali, Africa, locally woven cloth is decorated with local mud to create designs to tell stories & then dried in the hot African sun. You will duplicate this process to tell your story on a tote bag with different colored muds from various sources: South Carolina riverbanks, Texas cotton fields, NJ marshes and any you might bring. 8/4
