May 2008 Exhibit:

Lou Castagna -

"Say it with Color"

Ocean City Arts Center presents “Say It With Color”; recent works by award winning artist Lou Castagna, throughout the month of May.  The exhibit opens on May 5 and continues until May 30, with an opening reception on Friday May 9, from 6-8 p.m. Members of the public are invited to meet the artist at the opening reception, there is no charge for admission.

Lou Castagna has studied with Lance Balderson, Marilyn Crawford and Jennie Kell.  Castagna is a painter of Abstract Expressionism.  Lou Castagna’s motivation “is to move people to react in a positive way” via color, gesture and shape.  Castagna’s work embraces an Eastern theme with distant horizons; these thought-provoking paintings offer quiet simplifications coupled with unconscious and at times dramatic compositions.  Castagna’s influences include Mark Rothko, Wolk Kahn, Hans Hoffman, Sam Francis and Mark Dickson.
