February 2009 Exhibit: Lennox Warner

warner

Lennox Warner started sculpting in 1998, and later, learned painting at the Ocean City Arts Center, New Jersey in 2001 under the watchful eye of Patty Ray Guckus. His first three sculptures were from a fallen Street Maple tree that he found while visiting relatives in Brooklyn, New York.  Back then, he used regular carpenter’s tools to fashion the rough wood into sculptures.  Today, he uses any number of sophisticated tools some of them, he makes himself, to make his intricate Headrest, Portrait and Abstract Sculptures.

“Although most of my sculptures are based on classical African designs and images, I seek to form new ideas and concepts in mixed Media that include Bronze, Cast Glass and Oil Paints. Today, my modern sculptures are made in Bronzes, Hard Woods, Ceramic Clays, Waxes, Cement and Hydro-cal and Paintings are in Acrylic paints.”
