February 2012 Exhibit:

James Adam Taylor

This will be James' first solo show since graduating with a BFA from Rowan University. He recieved the third place ribbon in the 2010 Juried Photography Show at the Ocean City Arts Center.

James spent his undergraduate years studying photography and printmaking. Since 2004, he has been interested in bringing a more hands-on approach to the print side of digital photography.

His work consists of elements that would normally happen in a darkroom, such as "happy accidents" and areas void of ink. Hands on and mixed media techniques have allowed him to include alternate materials in digital prints, the surface recieving the image often lending another layer open for interpretation. Instead of traditional fine-art inkjet papers, he often uses non-traditional substances such as rice paper, gesso coated surfaces, spiral notebook paper, or book board.

He is interested in a wide variety of subjects, ranging from nature to landscapes to portraits and man-made objects, different subjects lending themselves to be printed in a different medium: sometimes traditional Giclee and other times a one-of-a-kind photo transfer on an appropriate surface.
