"Meet the Artist" Reception: Friday, January 13, 7pm - 8:30pm
Alisa is a Philadelphia native and a 1983 graduate
of Penn State University with a BA in Art. She paints regularly with other
popular artists at Lance Balderson's studio in Seaville, NJ. The natural
surroundings of the area encouraged Alisa to create paintings that are infused
with nature and her love of animals.
"As an artist,
I work hard to reveal through my paintings the beauty that nature has provided
us in our everyday surroundings. What inspires me can be something as obvious
as an ocean or landscape, my love for animals, or even a pile of debris on the
beach. When I began painting more than twenty five years ago, my intention was
to make each piece as realistic as possible. But always searching for new ways
to express myself, I am determined to take the ordinary and create something
special from it. This attitude has opened a pathway to abstraction that I am
currently exploring, adding some mixed media pieces to my collection of acrylic
Alisa exhibits her art locally and has received numerous awards in
juried art shows. She is an active member of the Ocean City Arts Center and the
Ocean City Fine Arts League.
When not painting, Alisa enjoys
golf. In addition, she taught art appreciation to children and currently
volunteers in community outreach programs including English as a Second
Language. Alisa resides in the Palermo section of Upper Township with her
